A Skein of Geese

I've just spent quite a long time trying to explain why people like me have been complaining about collective noun questions for so long, and why I think other people still insist on setting them. But I decided I was wasting my time, as people will keep setting them no matter what I say. So I've decided not to make any general comments as long as they don't go over the top – say, no more than two a week.

I can't help making specific comments about particular questions, however. And in the case of a skein, I feel I must point out the following:

One of the definitions of the word 'skein' in dictionary.com is "a flock of geese, ducks, or the like, in flight".

One of the definitions in the New Oxford Dictionary of English (paper version) is "a flock of wild geese or swans in flight, typically in a V–shaped formation".

That's three correct answers to this question: geese, ducks or swans.
